BLIND PUG ARTS COLLECTIVE PRESENTS THE THEATRE OF SELF-LOATHING PRESENTS WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLF? was a fully devised, caustic satire of everything we love and love to hate about theatre. Eastern European theatre artists Eddie and Cassilda — accompanied by their assistant Actor 3 — offer a lengthy presentation on their theory of revolutionary art: the Theatre of Self-Loathing. What follows is a mostly hilarious, sometimes frightening revue of theatrical parody and existential dread.
TOSL was workshopped devised with Blind Pug Arts Collective from 2014-2015 and produced as part of the 2015 Capital Fringe Festival.
Jonelle was a playwright-devisor and producer for this project, as well as the director for Capital Fringe.
The Theatre of Self-Loathing Presents: Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf? is a romp through all the pretensions and idiocies of the theatrical avant-garde …. It’s a blast. It’s the perfect evening of inside baseball, theatre-style.
