.DOCS was a devised transmedia narrative that blurred the line between audience and performers using text-centric, digital storytelling. It utilized anonymity, group chats, memes, shared folders, private living documents, and text-based roleplay to tell a story about us, you, and the internet.
.DOCS was workshopped in Summer 2021 and produced in Summer 2022 with a dedicated commitment to building care and healthy support into the creative process, as well as digital trauma-informed support for those who wish to explore the uncanny valley of document-based storytelling.
Jonelle worked as a playwright-devisor on both the workshop and production version of .DOCS, in addition to collaborating with Artistic Lead navi on the concept in Fall 2020. For the project, Jonelle collaborated with a diverse group of actors, writers, and experience & game designers to create a thought-provoking immersive experience with an accessible container on Discord and an engaging narrative arc.
[DOCS.] creative team and performers create a space for the audience that is at times laugh-out-loud funny and at others prompts an examination of morality and the human cost of taking down the real monsters in our world.
